About the role

United Way Australia is the local licensee of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) program across Australia working in partnership with government, businesses, and community groups. DPIL is a low cost, community-based book gifting intervention to prepare children for school. It was established to overcome many of the barriers of traditional early years literacy development programs.

Due to continued growth, we require a Marketing Specialist – Social Impact to join our team based in Sydney and reporting to the DPIL Partnerships Manager.

This role is full time on-site, and based in the Sydney CBD. Contract to June 2026.

The duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • With support from the UWA Program and Marketing Manager, contribute to and execute the social impact marketing plan
  • Working with the Head of Research, interpret research results to report on program impact to stakeholders
  • Create branding awareness that draws on program evidence to drive funding
  • Coordinate DPIL social media, DPIL quarterly newsletters, and DPIL website and other promotion activities
  • Proactively seek and develop case studies from communities to promote the program
  • Develop and update resources that will enhance program impact in Imagination Library communities
  • Develop targeted content for diverse audiences – such as community partners, parents, publishing partners, authors and illustrators – to drive engagement and collaboration

General office administration

To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Marketing
  • 2+ years’ experience in social impact or community development within an NGO
  • Experience translating research into impact reports for stakeholders
  • Experience working with a wide variety of people in CALD communities or cross-cultural settings
  • Experience using HubSpot CRM to develop marketing materials
  • Experience using CMS platforms such as WordPress for website management
  • Experience and enthusiasm for social media and communications channels
  • Interviewing experience, for case study development and content collection
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and self-manage workload
  • Working with Children Check and Right to work in Australia required
  • Experience working in education or educational advancement desired
  • Bilingual or multilingual desirable
